Jason Ferree, Ashland Insurance Agent Spotlight, commercial lines employee benefits specialist

At Ashland Insurance, we firmly believe the best agents aren’t just numbers people in stiff suits. They are your neighbors, your friends, and folks who truly understand what matters most to your family. Our team is built on real people with diverse, everyday experiences who genuinely care about this community.

Knowing that, you’ll understand why we’re thrilled to welcome the newest face to the Ashland Insurance agency. Meet Jason Ferree, a deeply experienced insurance professional with a huge heart for helping others.

Who is Jason Ferree?

Long before he was untangling complex policies, Jason Ferree was just a kid growing up in Reno, Nevada. He was a dedicated athlete who spent his days playing baseball and football, only heading inside when the streetlights finally came on. He eventually earned a wrestling scholarship to Boise State, which changed the entire trajectory of his life.

It was there, back in 1994, that he met the love of his life. She was a collegiate gymnast with the exact same fierce dedication to her craft as Jason had to the wrestling mat. They have been a team ever since, raising two wonderful boys and sharing their home with three energetic dogs.

For the last nearly two decades, Jason and his family have called the snowy mountains of Montana home. He lived right on the Clark Fork River, soaking up the beautiful but incredibly short summers. Recently, after years of shoveling snow in seventeen-degree weather, Jason and his wife decided it was time for a change. They packed up their lives, survived the headache of endless home improvement projects to sell their house, and set their sights on the welcoming climate of the Oregon coast.

The Origin and The Pivot

Jason’s comfort with chatting up strangers didn’t start in a corporate boardroom. It actually began when he was just a kid doing door-to-door sales to help fund his youth sports leagues. He learned early on how to look people in the eye, find common ground, and respectfully ask for their support.

That natural, easygoing charm followed him into adulthood. In the year 2000, a good friend working in health insurance recognized Jason’s talent for connecting with folks and encouraged him to give the industry a try. He took the leap, and it ended up being a perfect fit.

Now, with over twenty-five years of experience under his belt, Jason has seen every side of the business. He started out deep in the employee benefits world before successfully transitioning into commercial lines. Today, he brings a rare, holistic understanding of the industry to every single client he meets.

The Secret Weapon

If you want to understand what makes Jason such a relentless advocate for his clients, you have to look at his history as a wrestler and a coach. Wrestling requires an incredible amount of grit, patience, and a refusal to back down from a tough challenge. He applies that exact same mat-tested work ethic to fighting for the best coverage for his clients.

But his real secret weapon is his deep empathy, forged through years of volunteering as a youth sports coach. Jason spent years coaching football, baseball, and wrestling because he remembers the profound impact his own childhood coaches had on keeping his life on the right track. He knows how to patiently guide someone through a difficult learning process without ever making them feel small.

When you sit down with Jason to discuss your insurance needs, you aren’t talking to a salesman. You are talking to a coach who is genuinely invested in seeing you win. He will break down complicated jargon into plain English and make sure you feel totally confident in your decisions.

His Specialties: Championing the Little Guy

When it comes to his time in the office, Jason’s heart is completely dedicated to championing local small businesses. He specializes in a powerful combination of commercial lines and employee benefits. He chose this specific path because he absolutely hates seeing mom and pop shops struggling and not receiving the care they deserve.

Too often, the small businesses that local economies rely on get overlooked when they’re most in need. Jason steps into that gap to ensure the little guy gets the exact same powerhouse perks and personalized attention as the massive corporations. He loves sitting down with business owners, looking at their unique needs, and proving that they deserve a seat at the table.

Years ago in Montana, Jason noticed that small businesses were stuck on outdated, expensive health plans where one bad medical emergency could still bankrupt an employee. He started educating local employers on a high-deductible health plan for employees paired with Health Savings Accounts. By showing businesses how to use premium savings to fund their employees’ accounts, he helped regular folks build up massive safety nets of tax-free savings.

At first, the business owners thought his ideas were just too good to be true. But Jason’s patient, educational approach eventually won them over, transforming their financial futures and solidifying his lifelong passion for this work.

What Keeps Him Going

When he finally clocks out for the week, Jason is all about soaking up life’s simple outdoor pleasures. He is a massive fan of the water, which is a big reason why Southern Oregon was calling his name. You will likely find him hiking local trails or planning a trip to float the Wild and Scenic sections of the Rogue River.

He is already eagerly outfitting his gear to catch some local steelhead and salmon. When he isn’t exploring our backyard, he is taking advantage of his wife’s airline career to travel the world. They frequently escape to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where Jason loves to indulge his lifelong passion for incredible seafood and diverse local restaurants.

Whether he is casting a line in a quiet river, grabbing a bite at a local pub, or helping a small business protect its legacy, Jason Ferree is a guy who brings warmth and dedication to everything he does. If you see him out exploring the woods with his three dogs, be sure to give him a big, warm Oregon welcome!
